The Story of Dewandaru Flower (oleh G.A. Dyah Shanty)

Thousand white petals fall down to the earth, it was only two day after they bloomed perfectly under the cloudy sky of rainy season. The trunk stands silently watching its flower scattered and covered the ground with pure white. Some was gone with moist wind of twilight, some was left and let its fragrance lingered, filled the night mist. Was they gone in vain? Was the exquisiteness is made to be forgotten? Everyone knows that it was only a law of nature, a sacrifice for a bigger deed. The flower must vanish to create a fruit and it is the fruit that everyone needs…

The story above is a simple tale of a wood that called “Dewandaru”. This wood is believed as a mystical plant that could bring a fortune. Its fruit is very useful to heal illness and often use for ingredients in traditional medicine. Also there is a myth that said if the fruit accidentally fallen on someone, that person will have a great fortunate even his/her desire will come true. But people even forget about its flower, its tiny white fascinating flower that has a great contribution to create the fruit. The flower blooms in a flock in the edge of every stalk, each flock consists of 3-5 flowers. When it is on the full blossom, the whole tree will covered with white petals and looks like a flowing giant white bouquet in a distance. Its beauty is so enchanting until it is comparable to famous flower of Japan, The Sakura. But unfortunately, still there is many of our people do not realize this incredible plans and make this great heritage seemed uncover yet. Because they used to think about what we do not have but forget what we already own, our original treasure. It is so pity that this blooming time of this plant is so short that it’s scarcely noticed. It usually last only for two days or four in the most, and then it falls down, remaining a small fruit in every stalk.

This flower perhaps is not the most beautiful one, but it live in its own way and that left it so special. Its uniqueness gives different touch to its value and its originality can only make it unforgettable one. This also can be applied in our live. We don’t have to be the most beautiful or the greatest one to be a special person. If we can offer something original, something that unique and new, it is enough to make our life special. Like a tiny flower of Dewandaru which has a short life but had lived it wholeheartedly, it would be an unforgettable story for everyone. What we do is give the best to our life and do not ever afraid of being different and original.
